Fervenza do Ézaro - by jose antonio cuesta on Google
Description
Ézaro waterfall (fervenza do Ézaro) is a 30-40m slide of the Xallas river into a canyon at the foothills of the O Pindo mountains, next to the O Ézaro power station. There is a strong flow in the winter and after heavy rainfalls but the amount of water is relatively modest otherwise.
Access & Transport
The waterfall is accessible by boardwalks from the small harbour of Ézaro and going past the power station. The village of Ézaro is 68km west of Santiago de Compostela and 100km southwest of A Coruña.
Instructions & Recommendations
We recommend also making the short drive up to the Mirador for dominating views over Ezaro (beach and village) and then spending some time at Carnota Beach. In good weather, it is possible to swim in the small lagoon at the foot of the waterfall
Environmental & Social
Environmentally neutral and tourism brings some revenues to the surrounding villages
Conclusion
Picturesque natural feature that is worth a stop if in the area (beach or on the way to/from Finisterre) but unless it has been raining hard and there is a release of water, do not expect to be too impressed
Key positive
Ease of access
Good views from the mirador, further up the road
Key negative
None - just not spectacular
Suitability
Accessible via the boardwalk
