Hili Archaeological Park - by Shaima Al Hashemi on Google
Description
Hili Archaeological Park contains the earliest known evidence of an agricultural village in the UAE with ruins and artefacts dating back to 3000 BC. The main sight is the Grand Tomb at Hili which is 12m in diameter. Several tower foundations and the remains of a falaj irrigation system from the Bronze Age can also be seen. From the Iron Age (1300-300BC), some houses have been excavated and pottery such as jars were found.
Access & Transport
The Archaeological site is immediately to the northwest of the city of Al Ain, on the eastern side of the Abu Dhabi Emirate and 1h15' south of the city of Dubai. The address is "Near Al Ain National Museum" on Al Athar Street in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this attraction with the Ai Ain Oasis and Al Jahili Fort, a 20mins drive away.
Environmental & Social
Environmentally neutral. Helps preserve's the emirate's and country's archaeological heritage.
Conclusion
The Hili ruins are, in our opinion, only mildly interesting and not worth a special trip from either Dubai or Abu Dhabi. However, we would recommend including a visit there to anyone planning on checking out other attractions in Al Ain.
