Aqualandia, Benidorm

s/n Carrer Serra Gelada, Benidorm, Comunidad Valenciana

Description

Aqualandia is a water park located in Benidorm, along Spain's Costa Blanca. There are about 20 attractions such as water slides, swimming pools and sunbathing areas. The most adrenaline-inducing are Big Bang and Verti-Go (28/33m high with speeds of up to 100km/h).

Access & Transport

The park is on the eastern edge of Benidorm, 4km from the city centre. The L1 bus line goes there. From Alicante, it is a 50mins drive and from Valencia almost 2h.

Instructions & Recommendations

Please note the age and weight requirements for many of the rides (applicable for safety reasons) and don't forget to bring your swimming attire, some sunblock, hat/cap and sunglasses. The park is twinned with the marine animal park of Mundomar next door and combined tickets can be purchased.

Meta review

Online reviewers generally agree that the rides are good - although not many are suitable for younger children (no pb with the pools) - and that the lines tend to move relatively quickly, except for the Cyclone. However, there are systematic complaints about the extra fees for lockers and rental of sun-beds + those wearing glasses are also asked to secure them in a locker (can't be worn on rides), which is an added cost. Overall, many visitors think that the park is overpriced for what it offers.

Environmental & Social

Our view is that water parks are a bit wasteful (water, plastic, food) but in this instance there are plenty of green spaces and water is pumped from the sea, which partially compensates. We could not find detail about the group's CSR / ESG policy.

Conclusion

The water park is a great option for families, with a mix of adrenaline inducing and kids-friendly rides - although do note that age / size is a limiting factor for most rides (as it should). Unfortunately, we feel the pricing policy is too aggressive, including for extras, which greatly impacts value. Still a nice day out alternative for those staying in Benidorm.

Key positive

Some thrilling rides

Family-friendly activity

Easy to get to from Benidorm

Key negative

Expensive + 'hidden' fees

Can be crowded

Poor food quality

Suitability

Most rides are not suitable for visitors with reduced mobility. Rides also have height limits so younger children won' be able to get on all of them
