Description
The Archaeological Museum of Alicante, a.k.a. "MARQ" collections cover prehistory, Iberian culture, Roman culture, Middle Ages and modern and contemporary cultures. The focus is on, and most of the artefacts are from, the Costa Blanca and the Mediterranean Bassin. There are also 3 thematic rooms: 'Digging in a church', 'Digging underwater' and 'Digging in a cave' and temporary exhibitions. It is housed in the building of the old San Juan de Dios Hospital.

MARQ is arguably the best cultural activity in Alicante and even those without predilection for archaeology may enjoy it - especially when it is very hot outdoors.
