Description
La villa de Aínsa is a village at the foothills of the Aragonese Pyrenees, roughly between the national parks of Ordesa, Posets and Sierra de Guara. It is known for its stone houses centred around two streets (Calle Mayor and Santa Cruz) joining at the Plaza Mayor, its 11th century castle, and the Parish Church of Santa Maria.
Access & Transport
The village is 55km north of Barbastro, 70km east of Jaca (N-260), 100km northeast of Huesca, and 45km from the border with France through the Tunel de Bielsa / Tunnel d'Aragnouet.
Instructions & Recommendations
Make sure not to wear shoes with heels (cobblestones)
Environmental & Social
The only carbon footprint is that of your car if you drive there. Any amount spent there helps the local rural economy.
