Ordesa NP hike - Senda de los cazadores

Description
Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park is one the Spanish Pyrenees best known and most spectacular areas, thanks to its spectacular geologic landform (it is a UNESCO WHS). The most trafficked trail is the valley floor, all the way past several waterfalls and into a spectacular area opening onto Monte Perdido. The Senda de los Cazadores hike reviewed here offers an alternative on the way out to create a 20km loop with 1,100m of total ascent and dramatic views. Not very technical, but the length of the hike means a good fitness level is required.
Access & Transport
The trailhead is at the carpark, 8km north of Torla. This is where the buses drop hikers. There is a large free car park in Torla where the bus shuttles leave from.
Instructions & Recommendations
The buses operate from June to November and during Easter. During that time, it is not possible to drive up to the park's entrance (but it is possible to walk though we do not recommend it if your time is limited). Exact bus time cannot be booked, you will need to queue. Make sure to bring proper footwear, some snacks (and possibly a picnic), plenty of water, sun protection and rain/wind coat depending on the weather forecast. Cloudy doesn't mean the UVs won't get to you and the weather changes very fast in the high mountains.
Environmental & Social
Eco-friendly activity. Brings some economic activity to this rural area.
Conclusion
A fantastic hike with unique views rewarding those that make it to the foot of Monte Perdido. The only downside is the lack of interest of the long stretch in the forest on the valley floor.
