Sierra de Guara, Salto de Roldan - by Nacho Escartin Otin on Google
Description
The Sierra y Cañones de Guara National Park is centred around the Sierra de Guara mountain massif, in the northern part of Aragon. It is known for its caving, canyoning and climbing routes and natural features highlights such as the stunning Salto de Roldán rock formation and the waterfalls of Bierge (Salto de Bierge).
Access & Transport
The park is 25km northeast of the city of Huesca. There is no through-road but the road from Boerge to Rodellar does get to the rough center of the massif.
Instructions & Recommendations
We would recommend visiting the village of Alquezar and possibly join one of the activities leaving from there such as canyoning.
Environmental & Social
Eco-friendly. Socially marginally positive as it potentially brings some revenues to the local villages
Conclusion
A real gem for nature and outdoor activities lovers. It is also pretty easy to reach from Huesca or Zaragoza and might be a good place to spend a couple of days trying out some adventure sports with one or several operators
Key positive
Some striking landscapes
Still mostly untouched and not commercialized
Key negative
Slow going on the roads
Suitability
Visitors with reduced mobility can enjoy many viewpoints from the road and discover villages but not access some of the trails and natural features
