Dinópolis (Teruel)

Polígono los Planos, Teruel, Aragón

Description

Dinópolis is a theme park blending educational and leisure aspects relating to dinosaurs and palaeontology. It is located in the outskirts of Teruel, southern Aragon, an area rich in fossils. Inside, there is a museum, a 3D cinema, children's attractions, shows, and a simulator. The main park is complemented by 7 centres in other parts of the province: Inhóspitak, Legendark, Región Ambarina, Bosque Pétreo, Mar Nummus, Valcaria, and Titania.

Access & Transport

The park is off the N-420a, 3km southeast of Teruel. The closest large city is Valencia, 140km away on the A-23. Zaragoza is 170km to the north.

Meta review

Slightly inconsistent reviews for the park with some visitors apparently finding no flaw but, reading carefully, most people seem to enjoy it mostly when in a family setting, more specifically with children between 4 and 12 years of age. Several reviewers comment that one can spend as little as 2h there or the entire day, depending on personal interests and, indeed, if accompanied by younger children. Do not expect too much and you will be pleasantly surprised. There are 2 significant drawbacks though: the price and the food (can't bring F&B inside) with the latter being rated as really sub-par.

Environmental & Social

No environmental data but it does use electricity. Some educational aspects and provides employment in the area.

Conclusion

The theme park is not oriented towards thrills but rather on 'edutainment', juxtaposing cultural, scientific and fun exhibits and attractions. Pretty well executed given the budget but we can't get our heads around the pricing. Not one to travel for from far away but a good option when in southern Aragon or northern Valencia regions.
