Marché de Pamiers - by Haute Garonne Tourisme

Description
Pamiers is a small town in Ariege with a handful of monuments and a well-known farmers market where visitors can find fresh regional produce including fish, meat, fruits & vegetables and well as baked goods. The main market takes place on Saturdays on Place Saint Ursule and a smaller version is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Place de la Republique.
Access & Transport
Pamiers is located 70km south of Toulouse (A66), heading towards the Pyrenees, and 20km north of Foix. Both the Place de la Republique and Place Saint Ursule are located in the centre of town, only 300m apart. The train station, which is on the Toulouse to Ax-les-Thermes regional line, is a 10 mins walk from the market places.
Instructions & Recommendations
Whilst in town, it is also worth taking a look at the St Antonin Cathedral, the Hotel de Ville and the Convent of the Carmelites.
Environmental & Social
Environmentally neutral. The small regional producers' aspect is a positive from a social perspective.
Conclusion
The farmers market in Pamiers is mid-sized and still very much original, in the sense of not overly touristy. It is colourful with good quality products and a visit there can be complemented by a few interesting buildings & monuments such as the cathedral and the Convent of the Carmelites.
