Penglipuran Village - by Koreval
Description
Penglipuran is a traditional village in the Bangli regency of Bali. It is fully renovated and welcomes tourists to its neatly arranged row of traditional houses that follows a typical arrangement. A majority of the houses now house souvenir shops or restaurants.
Access & Transport
The village is 5km straight north of Bangli, 600m from the main road (turn left) heading toward Kintamani. There is parking onsite. It is located a 50mins drive away from Ubud and 1h30 from South Bali.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining a visit there with Pura Kehen in Bangli and/or Tirta Empul.
Environmental & Social
Environmentally neutral. Completely commercialized but does provide employment and revenues to the local community
Conclusion
If you are looking for genuine, you can look elsewhere. The house and village look like a set up for tourists, some won't mind but we just did not see the point, nor the rationale for levying an admission fee given it is full of shops inside.
