Padang Padang beach - by Sergey Bykov on Google
Description
Padang Padang beach is one of several beaches along the north-western shores of Uluwatu, down the cliffside using a staircase making its way under a fallen rock. The sand is quite fine and golden and the waters often turquoise. International level competitions have been held there regularly and it is possible to rent surf boards.
Access & Transport
The beach is about midway between Suluban Beach (Blue Point Uluwatu) and Bingin Beach, on the Bukit Peninsula. It is 12km southwest of Jimbaran beach, 18km west of Nusa Dua and 23km from the Kuta/Legian/Seminyak area. There is a parking near the entrance along Jl Labuansait.
Instructions & Recommendations
Don't forget the usual protective equipment (hat/cap, "green" sunblock, sunglasses, slippers) and some water. If you have not been yet, the Uluwatu Temple is only 4km away.
Environmental & Social
Green activity except for the rubbish left by some visitors. Socially / Community neutral.
Conclusion
Padang Padang is one of several good beaches in Uluwatu with a very attractive setting, golden sand and azure waters. Highly recommended for surfers or beachgoers as part of an exploration of the Bukit peninsula (or a multi-day stay in the area!)
Key positive
One of the nicest settings along the coast
World class surf break
Key negative
Getting over-touristy
Suitability
Best suited for adults and children above 6yrs old that can swim. Not accessible for visitors with reduced mobility because of the steep staircase to get down to the beach (and back up).
