Aquarium Barcelona - by Petr Mikeska on Google
Description
The Aquarium Barcelona comprises 35 water tanks, the largest of which (The Oceanarium) has a depth of 5m and diameter of 36m and houses two types of sharks among other species. There is a strong focus on Mediterranean ecosystems, several tropical aquariums and some themed ones such as for seahorses and tropical corals.
Access & Transport
The closest metro stations are Drassanes (L3) and Barceloneta (L4), each a 10-12mins walk away. Bus is also a convenient way to get there, V17 service in particular. By road, take Ronda Litoral exit 21 or 22 and park at Indigo C. C. Maremagnum.
Instructions & Recommendations
We would suggest combining a visit there with some time at Barceloneta beach or a walk down Las Ramblas via Rambla del Mar.
Environmental & Social
There is a surprising lack of information around the aquarium's involvement with conservation efforts. The duality of education / conservation and keeping animals in cages / tanks.
Conclusion
The Aquarium Barcelona is a nice family activity which is let down by its pricing as it can no longer claim to be one of the best aquariums in the world. If that is not an issue for you then it is definitely an option to consider in your itinerary.

Key negative
