Bogatell Beach - by Thomas Maierhofer on Google
Description
Bogatell Beach is one of Barcelona's best and most central beaches, it measures about 700m in width and 50m in depth. There are lifeguards, public showers and toilets and some restaurants near the waterfront.
Access & Transport
The beach is located in the Sant Martí district The closest metro station is Llacuna on the L4, about 10-15mins walk away. There are some bus stops much closer on Ronda/Av. del Litoral and Carrer de Carmen Amaya. By car, the area is served by Ronda del Litoral
Instructions & Recommendations
It's the beach and the sun can be strong in Barcelona so don't forget the usual protective equipment (hat/cap, "green" sunblock, sunglasses, slippers) and some water.
Environmental & Social
Reasonable infrastructure and low carbon footprint. No negative social impact.
Conclusion
Playa de Bogatell - and in fact Nova Icaria and Nova Mar Bella as well - are an excellent trade-off between location and quality: not as central as Barceloneta but better sand and water. It is also a little less crowded and off-season there are sufficient spaces to park along the beachfront. The best beach option without leaving the city.
Key positive
Good quality (sand and water) for a city center beach
Good infrastructure (showers, public toilets and lifeguards)
Key negative
Still many peddlers during the summer
Crowded in the summer
Suitability
Kids / family friendly with limited waves in the summer. The beach is accessible for visitors with reduced mobility
