Fine Arts Museum of Bilbao - by Management
Description
The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum (Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao) holds a collection of Basque, Spanish and European paintings, sculptures, drawings and applied arts. These belong to various time periods starting from the 12th century through to contemporary art with artists such as El Greco, Goya, Sorolla or Gauguin represented.
Access & Transport
The museum is at the edge of Doña Casilda Park, on the southern side of Euskadi Plaza, 400m from the Guggenheim and 1.5km northwest of the historical centre of the city. The metro stops at Plaza Moyua, 500m away and tram #5 at Guggenheim.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining a visit there with a walk through the Doña Casilda Park. The Guggenheim Museum is another possible combination for a different kind of art and experience.
Environmental & Social
Minor environmental impact to run the museum (mostly electricity). Helps spread the arts
Conclusion
The Fine Arts Museum of Bilbao is a solid cultural activity option that, once the expansion works are completed, should warrant a detour from within the Pais Vasco for art enthusiasts. Clearly not as eye catching as other structures in the city.

Key negative
No world-famous masterpieces to attract more visitors
