Doña Casilda Park

Casilda Iturrizar Parkea, Bilbo, Euskadi

Description

The Doña Casilda Park is a public park with an English-style garden, fountains and a pergola in the north-western pat of Bilbao. It is named after local philanthropist Casilda Iturrizar who donated the land.

Access & Transport

The park is 400m west of Plaza Moyua and 1.5km northwest of the historical centre of the city. The metro stops at Plaza Moyua and tram #5 at 'Euskalduna' at the western end of the park.

Instructions & Recommendations

We suggest combining some time in this park between a visit to the neighbouring Fine Arts Museum and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao located 5mins' walk away.

Meta review

The park is not described as a prime attraction by online reviewers but rather as an enjoyable place for a walk, with plenty of benches and shade to take a break. Some favourable comments on the fountains and the pond.

Environmental & Social

Green attraction that also improves the living environment of residents

Conclusion

Doña Casilda Park makes for a nice green break in between a visit of the Fine Arts Museum or the Guggenheim but it would not qualify as a tourist attraction.
