Jardin Public Bordeaux - by Luka Zoric on Google
Description
The Jardin Public de Bordeaux is situated to the northwest of the Place des Quinconces, on the northern side of the city. It covers nearly 11 ha and includes a small meandering river with 3 wrought iron bridges spanning it, a beautiful terrasse adorned with various statues, a natural history museum in the hôtel de Lisleferme and a small botanical garden. It was created for public enjoyment in 1746 and was then designed in the French style before falling in disuse after the French revolution. It was renovated in the English style in the mid-19th century.
Access & Transport
The Tram C stops near the eastern entrance along the Cr de Verdun and so do bus 4, 12, 15 and 26. Bus 12 and 25 also stop along the northern side on Rue de la Course.
Instructions & Recommendations
This activity is best combined with a visit of Place des Quinconces and its Monument aux Girondins
Environmental & Social
We deem this activity to be marginally positive from an environmental standpoint, on account of the green space and trees. Socially slightly positive as well as it makes the neighbourhood more pleasant for residents.
Conclusion
The Jardin Public de Bordeaux is an enjoyable parc to visit on a sunny day, but we would not list it among the must-see on a very short visit. It is best enjoyed during a slightly longer stay and by residents, when time is not of the essence.
