Description
The Massachusetts State House is the state capitol and seat of government for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It also houses the state legislature. The current building was constructed at the end of the 18th century, after the end of the American Revolution, with a design known as Federal architecture; the dome was covered with copper in 1802 and gilded with gold leaf in 1874. The State House Tours Division provides an Architectural/Historical Tour and a Legislative Process Tour, as well as a number of brochures. Visitors can go through, inter alia, the Doric Hall, the Hall of Flags, the Great Hall, the House of Representatives, and the Senate Chambers.

The State House is at the corner of Beacon and Park Streets, just north of Boston Common, in the middle of the city centre.
