The reserve now covers 60ha with 7km of paths for visitors to observe the local birds such as flamingos and herons. The park's role beyond its ecotourism aspect is to manage the area's infrastructure and educate visitors (such as school children) about their environment. Instructions & Recommendations

We suggest visitors to take their binoculars with them (or buy some) and also explore the rest of the Camargues National Park.

Meta review

The park gets positive reviews mostly on account of the flamingos, a rare opportunity to see them in the wild and from up close (thanks to the well-spaced blinds) in Europe. The key issues are the considerable number of visitors during the French school holidays and the risk of theft at the car park. The main advice include taking bug spray/sunblock, wearing a hat/cap in the summer and taking cash if you intend to purchase drinks or a snack onsite (cards not accepted).

Environmental & Social

Eco-friendly activity that educates visitors about the local ecosystems and preserves them.

Conclusion

The ornithological park is one of the best spots in the Camargue for bird watching and in Europe to sight Flamingos in the wild. Its paths are well maintained and suitable for all ages, which makes it a great choice for families looking for an activity blending outdoors and wildlife.
