Art & History Museum, Brussels - by Diego Guijarro Peral on Google
Description
The Art & History Museum of Brussels collections span archaeology, ethnographic and decorative arts. Its collections can be divided across: 1) Classical antiquity (Middle East, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Byzantine and Oriental Christian Arts), 2) Non-European civilizations (Asia, Polynesia and Micronesia, America, Islamic Art), 3) National archaeology (prehistory, Gallo-Roman period, and Merovingian period), and 4) European Decorative Arts from the Middle Ages to the 20th century (sculptures, textile, furniture, ceramics, metals, and glassware).
Access & Transport
The museum is in the southern section of the Parc du Cinquantenaire, east of Leopold Park and the European Quarter. The nearest public transport station is Merode, 300m to the east. The train, metro (1, 5) and tram (81) stop there.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this activity with a walk in the Parc du Cinquantenaire and a visit of the Autoworld or the Royal Military Museum
Environmental & Social
No environmental data about the building. Small carbon footprint from use of electricity. Educational aspects and helps spread the arts
Conclusion
Brussel's Art & History Museum is a good cultural option that should cater to a wide range of personal interests. However, it feels like it has the potential (building and collections) to be much better were it to reinvent the way it is arranged and presented. That being said, it is worth visiting
