Description
The Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert is a complex of 3 shopping arcades covered by an arched glass-paned roof. There were designed by architect Jean-Pierre Cluysenaer in the mid-19th century and named the King's, Queen's and Prince's Galleries, respectively. Inside, there are shops and restaurants, but the Galerie du Roi also houses the Royal Theatre of the Galleries.
Access & Transport
The galleries are only 100m from the Grand-Place, in Bruxelles' historical centre. The Galerie du Roi stretches from the Rue des Bouchers to the Rue d'Arenberg and the Galerie de la Reine leads to the Rue du Marché It is a 5mins walk to the Centrale metro station (1, 5), the Brussel-Centraal train station, and the De Brouckère metro (1, 5) and tram station (3, 4)
Instructions & Recommendations
Note that the shops have their own opening and closing times and some are closed on Sundays.
Environmental & Social
No environmental data available. We deem this attraction marginally negative in that respect (electricity consumption mostly). Part of the city's architectural heritage
Conclusion
The Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert is a must-see for shopping enthusiasts and urban explorers, including street photographers. It is also architecturally interesting enough to warrant a detour for those who enjoy beautiful buildings
