Musical Instruments Museum - by Pierre Giboudeaux on Google
Description
The Musical Instruments Museum of Bruxelles presents Belgian musical history, instruments from all over the world, and European musical traditions. The museum has a collection of over 8,000 instruments and is housed in the former Old England department store, an Art Nouveau building with a façade of girded steel and glass. A media guide with headset allows visitors to listen to nearly 200 musical extracts of the instruments on display.
Access & Transport
The museum entrance is on Rue Montagne de la Cour, just off the Place Royale. The square is served by tram lines 92 and 93 at the 'Royale' station. It is a 10mins walk to Centrale train and metro station (1, 5).
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining a visit there with the Place Royale, the Royal palace, one of the art museums (Magritte or Oldmasters & Fin de Siècle), or Mont des Arts. Brussels Park is also a great place for a break.
Environmental & Social
Some environment impact to run the museum (mostly electricity). Spreads culture and the arts
Conclusion
An atypical museum blending some historical, artistic, and technological aspects. Even non-music enthusiasts should find this interesting. Relatively expensive for adults but included in the Brussels Card.
