Parlamentarium - by Management
Description
The Parlamentarium is the visitors' centre of the European Parliament in Brussels and contains multimedia exhibits explaining the functioning of the parliament as well as other EU institutions. The multimedia guides can be experienced in any of the EU's 24 official languages.
Access & Transport
The building is just to the west of Leopold Park, 1.5km east of the city centre (Place Royale) The train station Bruxelles-Luxembourg is only 150m away and several bus lines stop around the parliament building. The nearest metro stops are Maelbeek (1, 5) and Trone (2, 6), each 700m away.
Instructions & Recommendations
Online booking is required to guarantee admission as the number of visitors is controlled. We suggest combining a visit there with either the Natural Sciences Museum or the House of European History.
Environmental & Social
No environmental data about the building. Some carbon footprint from electricity consumption. Educational and civic aspects.
Conclusion
The Parlamentarium is very topical in Brussels, one of the legislative centers of the EU. It is also extremely well executed although the narrow theme may end up feeling belaboured after a while. A must see in our opinion for those straying to that part of the city.
