Description
Train World is the museum of the National Railway Company of Belgium. It is housed in the old and distinctive Schaarbeek railway station known for its striped colour scheme and Neo-Renaissance design. Inside, there are over 20 locomotives (steam, diesel, and electric) on display, various types of railcars, and other memorabilia (1,200 objects in total). The oldest preserved locomotives, the "Pays du Waes" dating from 1845, is exhibited there.
Access & Transport
The Schaerbeek station is 4km north of Brussel's Grand-Place and just to the southeast of Laeken Park. There is parking available next to the building. By public transport, tram lines 7 and 92 stop there as well as several bus lines (56, 58, 59, 69).
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this activity with a walk in and exploration of Laeken Park.
Environmental & Social
Reasonable electricity consumption on a per visitor basis. Some educational aspects and helps preserve the country's technological and architectural heritages.
