Museum of Human Evolution - by Joaquin Guire on Google

Description
The Museum of Human Evolution is housed in a building designed by architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg in Burgos. The interior landscaping recreates the scenery of the nearby Sierra de Atapuerca, the site of important human fossil finds. Other exhibits focus on different ecosystems such as the jungle, savannah, and tundra-steppe of the last glaciation. Finally, there is a series of reproductions of human ancestors, made by French sculptor Élisabeth Daynès.
Access & Transport
The museum is on the southern bank or the Alarzon River, across the Puente de San Pablo or Pasarela de la Evolución Humana (pedestrian) from the historical centre of Burgos. There is a car park on site and the cental bus station is 500m away.
Instructions & Recommendations
This activity is best combined with a walk along the Paseo del Espolón, or for those who don't mind more cultural activities, the nearby Museo de Burgos.
Environmental & Social
Purposely constructed building and no info available in terms of energy consumption. Educational aspects
Conclusion
Burgos' Museum of Human Evolution is a very good cultural attraction only let down by its desire to appeal to all profiles and being too generic in the process; it also lacks top-tier artefacts or specimen outside of the Atapuerca finds. Recommended for those who tire a little of churches and castles and/or need a refresh on human evolution.
