Description
The West Loop of Chicago is a former industrial area / meat-packing district with warehouses that has been gentrified and turned into a trendy area with restaurants, bars, and hotels. It extends from the Western bank of the Chicago River and includes neighbourhoods such as Fulton River, Fulton Market, and Greektown. Landmarks and highlights include Union Park station, Old St. Patrick's Church, the National Hellenic Museum, the Haymarket Memorial, and Bartelme Park.
Access & Transport
The Ogilvie Transportation Centre and Union Station are both located in the West Loop. At the northern edge, the Green and Pink metro lines stop at Clinton and Ashland whereas on the southern edge the Blue line stops at Clinton, UIC-Halsted and Racine.
