Description
Baena is a small town located in the region of the Campiña de Baena, to the southeast of Cordoba. It was an Iberian settlement in the 6th century BC (as evidenced by the Baena Lion sculpture). Economically, the mainstay is agricultural: olive oil, vineyards (Montilla-Moriles) and grain. Architectural and cultural highlights include the Historical and Archaeological Museum, the Baena Castle built in the 9th century, various churches such as the Church of Santa María la Mayor, and the museum of the culture of olive.

The town is 60km southeast of Cordoba (N-432) and 60km southwest of Jaén (A-316/N-432) There is a scheduled bus to/from Cordoba (M-230) making the journey in 65mins

Conclusion
A nice town to include on a road trip between Cordoba, Jaen and Granada but probably not worth a long detour despite a handful of interesting attractions
