Plaza de la Corredera, Cordoba - by Szűcs Benedek on Google

Description
The Plaza de la Corredera is the emblematic city centre square of Cordoba. It was designed by architect Antonio Ramós Valdés in the mid-17th century and, unusually for the region, it is quadrangular in shape. It gets its name for the bullfight that were held there: corridas - this also explains why there are so many balconies. The Spanish Inquisition also used it regularly... The square houses all have a similar look except for two buildings that pre-date the development: the old prison and house of the corregidor (a royal official) - now called the Sánchez Peña Market - and the Casas de Doña Ana Jacinto.
Access & Transport
The Plaza is in the center of the city, 500m north of the Puente de Miraflores and 900m northeast of the Mezquita. Bus C2 stops by the square
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this activity with the Palacio de Viana, only 600m away, or the Jewish Quarter (Judería)
Environmental & Social
Environmentally, there is no data at the neighbourhood level, but it is mostly concrete with few green spaces. Helps preserve the city's architectural heritage.
Conclusion
Córdoba's Plaza de la Corredera is impressive and worth including into your city itinerary. Good place to take a break, if it aesthetically appeals to you, move on if it does not.
