Château de Boussac - by Rocha Lexploratrice on Google

Description
The Château de Boussac is a 15th-century castle built on an overhang above the Petite Creuse river. It is best known for the tapestries of "La Dame à la Licorne" discovered there by historian & archaeologist Prosper Mérimée and author George Sand (who stayed there several times) - those are now exhibited in the Musée du Moyen Âge in Paris. Visitors can discover rooms decorated with rich period furnishing, old tapestries and woodwork.
Access & Transport
Boussac is located in the north of the Creuse department, 50km from Aubusson. It is roughly in the centre of the triangle formed by Limoges (130km), Clermont Ferrand (115km) and Bourges (95km). Entrance is from the Place de l'Eglise (church square) Information on accessibility: https://www.chateaudeboussac.com/?page_id=76
Instructions & Recommendations
The visits are in the form of guided groups only (in French). Note the seasonality of opening hours. Outside of this period groups can try to schedule a visit by contacting management at: chateaudeboussac@orange.fr
Environmental & Social
Green activity except for some electricity consumption (lighting and heating). This activity helps preserve the region's architectural and cultural heritages and brings some economic influx to the village.
Conclusion
Relatively modest in size but the quality of the interiors and personal touch of the guided tours make this a worthy stop (albeit not a cheap one) for those exploring this region or passing through.
