Description
The Crossroads of Civilization Museum is a cluster of three museums: the Crossroads of Civilizations Museum, The Rare Books, Manuscripts & Prints Museum and The Armory Museum. It houses artefacts spanning from centuries of trade in Dubai, thanks to its historical position as a crossroads of trade routes connecting the East and West.
Access & Transport
The museum is located within the historic Creekside district of Al Shindagha, The most convenient route is via the Metro, with Al Ghubaiba station (green line), a short 5 mins walk away. Visitors can also opt to take the bus to the same station or the ferry to the Al Ghubaiba Marine Transport Station and walk the remaining 350m along the Creek.
Instructions & Recommendations
It would be ideal to combine your visit with one or two of the other attractions in the district such as the Al Shindagha Museum. In the late afternoon, the Bur Dubai waterfront is an enjoyable place to catch the sunset over the Creek.
Environmental & Social
No information regarding sustainable environmental practices is available. The main energy consumption comes from the required air conditioning. Some cultural value.
Conclusion
While the Dubai of today may be known for luxurious lifestyles and skyscrapers, The Crossroad of Civilizations Museum allows for one to explore a side of Dubai that is lesser known. It will allow visitors to learn about the emirate's history and provides the perfect opportunity to discover the Al Shindagha neighbourhood.
