Dubai Butterfly Garden - by Matt Watson-Power on Google
Description
Dubai Butterfly Garden houses around 15,000 butterflies of over 50 varieties in 10 climate-controlled domes. There is also a butterfly and insect museum, a koi pond in one of the domes and a cascade in another one.
Access & Transport
The garden is located in Dubailand, a large area still under development in the south of the city. The closest metro stations are Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Internet City, a 15min drive away so taxi / driving is the most efficient way to get there and there are free parking lots onsite
Instructions & Recommendations
We recommend combining this attraction with the Dubai Miracle Garden next door
Environmental & Social
Temperature controlled domes require a fair amount of energy and water. Ethical issue around captivity of animals
Conclusion
The Butterfly Garden is an attraction that most people will enjoy - irrespective of their age. There is nothing about it that is really Dubai specific, so not on the short list for those whose main interest is to discover the city and its culture, but a good option for residents and repeat visitors to Dubai.
Key positive
Very different experience from the more traditional theme-parks and entertainment venues
Family friendly
Key negative
Staff should be stricter around the "no touching" rule
Expensive considering the out of the way location and reasonable scale of the facilities
Suitability
Suitable for all ages and no accessibility problem for visitors with reduced mobility
