Description
The Dubai Opera is a performing arts center It is designed to resemble a dhow, a traditional sailing vessel from the Gulf, and can accommodate close to 2,000 spectators. It is used as a theatre, opera, and concert venue as well as to host conferences and exhibitions. The Architecture Tour is guided and last approximately 45 mins - it is available in English and Arabic. Visitors will be given insights into the design of the building as well as discover the various artworks, set-ups and operations.
Access & Transport
The Dubai Opera is located in Downtown Dubai, next to the Burj Khalifa Lake. It is a 10' walk to the Dubai Mall metro station (red line). The tour leaves from the Box Office.
Instructions & Recommendations
There are 3 departure time per day: 12h00, 14h00, and 16h00. Best to book in advance as space is limited. We recommend combining this activity with the Downtown complex, be it the Aquarium, the Burj Khalifa observation deck or the Dubai Mall.
Environmental & Social
Besides the use of air-conditioning, this activity is quite neutral both from an environmental and social standpoint
Conclusion
This tour is recommended for those who have a genuine interest in the arts and backstage operations or enjoy discovering anything new, however left field it might be. If you fall in these categories and are planning to be in the area, this is an interesting activity to add in your itinerary - if you can stomach the price, which we find baffling.
Key positive
Impressive concert hall
Central location
Key negative
Tours run at specific times
Very expensive for what it is
Suitability
Theoretically suitable for all ages but we would not advise bringing kids under 10-12 years old. It is unclear if visitors with mobility issues can attend the tour so best to check in advance as there might be some stairs
