Description
The National Gallery of Ireland (Gailearaí Náisiúnta na hÉireann) holds a large collection of paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures housed in a building designed by Francis Fowke in the mid-19th century and expanded several times since, in particular with the addition of the Millennium Wing in 2002 (notable for its large atrium). The permanent collections consist mostly of European old masters' paintings and artworks from Irish artists spanning the 18th to 20th centuries.
Access & Transport
The museum is in the centre of Dublin, adjacent to the Trinity College campus and Merrion Square. The Pearse train station is a 5mins walk to the northeast and the Dawson stop on the green tram line is the same distance to the west.
Instructions & Recommendations
For those keen on more cultural activities, the National Museums of Archaeology and Natural History are right next to the National Gallery. In between, you can take a break in Merrion Square or have a walk through the Trinity College campus.

Conclusion
The National Gallery of Ireland is a well-executed (classic) art museum with a good range of artists. Expect this to be very popular on a rainy day (not a rare occurrence!)
