Bargello National Museum - by Gilles Bourdin on Google

Description
The Bargello National Museum exhibits a comprehensive collection of Gothic and Renaissance sculptures (14-17th centuries) by famous artists such as Ghiberti, Michelangelo, Cellini or Donatello. It is named after the 13th-century palace in which it is located (a.k.a. Palazzo del Popolo) that served as a model for the Palazzo Vecchio and housed the bargello, the police chief of the city. Besides the sculptures, the museum also owns ceramics and other applied decorative arts.
Access & Transport
The museum is on the eastern edge of Florence's historical centre, only 100m northeast of Piazza delle Signoria. Bus C2 stops next to it on Via Ghibellina.
Instructions & Recommendations
We would recommend visiting the Uffizi Gallery and the Bargello on different days as there is some degree of artistic overlap in the collections. Note the early closing time in the afternoons.
Environmental & Social
We deem this activity neutral from an environmental standpoint. Helps preserve the city's and country's architectural and artistic heritages.
Conclusion
The Bargello Museum collection is more focused than that of the Uffizi Gallery and it is much less crowded, thus making for a very different experience. If you have the time and enjoy drawing perhaps, this is a good place to roam around and test your skills.
Key positive
Many sculptures masterpieces
Building is architecturally-worthy of such collections
Key negative
Could do with some modernization
Suitability
Accessible. Children younger than 12-14years old may not find the collections very interesting.
