Galleria dell'Accademia, Florence - by Danny Beltran on Google
Description
The Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze is one of the city's foremost art museums, including celebrated sculptures such as Michelangelo's David, as well as the Museum of Musical Instruments. The origin of the museum is linked to the Academy of the Arts of Drawing where students could find works of art for their study and training. There are also Florentine paintings from the 13th to the 16th centuries, including from the High Renaissance (1495-1520).
Access & Transport
The museum is 300m northeast of the Cathedral Bus #10 stops nearby on Piazza di San Marco and C1 on Via Cavour. Accessible entrance at 60 Via Ricasoli
Instructions & Recommendations
We would suggest a visit of this Gallery and that of Uffizi on different days as there is some degree of overlap.
Environmental & Social
We deem this activity neutral from an environmental standpoint. Helps preserve the city's architectural and artistic heritages.
Conclusion
The Galleria dell'Accademia punches under its weight and really owes its success to its star sculpure. There is potential to do more though... recommended, but with some reserve.
