Elogio del horizonte - by Tomas Netrval on Google
Description
Elogio del horizonte is a concrete sculpture made by the Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida located in Parque del Cerro de Santa Catalina, along the shoreline of Gijón, Asturias. It measures 10m and weights 500 tons.
Access & Transport
The park is directly north of the centre of Gijón; there is a (paid) parking on site but it is also a short walk from most other sights. Gijón is 30km northeast of Oviedo (25mins by bus), along the Cantabrian coastline.
Instructions & Recommendations
It does get windy there so consider taking a jacket/windbreaker. On your way, you can visit the Roman Baths of Campo Valdés
Environmental & Social
Once the concrete was poured, this became an environmentally neutral attraction
Conclusion
The site had potential but the result is quite unremarkable and doesn't feel quite finished. Probably wasn't worth spending tax payer money on that.
