Description
Granada Cathedral (Catedral de la Encarnación de Granada) is a Roman Catholic church built during the 15th/16th century atop the city's main mosque, after the kingdom of Granada was taken back from its Muslim rulers in 1492. The dominant style is Spanish Renaissance but some Baroque elements were added to the façade. Unusually, the floor map is rectangular as the five naves are completely "merged" with the transept. The other key architectural features are the two towers and the circular main chapel (rather than a semi-circular apse).
