Animal Park Serre-Ponçon - by Management
Description
The Animal Park Serre-Ponçon offers animal shows, feeding and discovery to visitors. It is located on the southern shores of Lake Serre-Ponçon, in the French Southern Alps. The main show is "Birds of Prey in free flight", it is held twice daily and showcases raptors such as falcons, vultures, owls. Other activities include feeding of marmots, meetings foxes, vultures and Saarloos wolfdogs.
Access & Transport
Address Le Sauze du Lac. The park is 2km south of the village, along the D954 By car, Briançon is 70km away, and from Gap 40km and Marseille 215km.
Instructions & Recommendations
We recommend interested visitors to check the program on the park's website ahead of time so they can decide when to arrive. The rest of the day can be enjoyed around the lake.
Environmental & Social
Animals are being held in captivity for show and we are not aware about any conservation effort by the operator. Environmentally neutral.
Conclusion
The animal park could, in our opinion, be better executed with wider enclosures, a morning show to spread attendance, and a comprehensive educational and conservation program. The elevated entrance price (quite a budget for an entire family) isn't in keeping with the size and quality of what is being offered which makes it an attraction with mediocre value.
Key positive
