Jardin des Plantes de Montpellier - by Management

Description
The Jardin des Plantes de Montpellier is a botanical garden and arboretum founded and still managed by the Medical faculty of the University of Montpellier. It contains over 3,000 species of trees and plants, including within greenhouses the most famous of which is l'Orangerie, several bust sculptures of medical doctors & naturalists, and an English garden with a pond. Trivia: established in 1593, it is the oldest botanical garden in France.
Access & Transport
The gardens are located at the northwest edge of the city centre, next to the cathedral and 150m north of the Arc de Triomphe / Promenade du Peyrou. It is served by tram lines 1 & 4 stopping at 'Place Albert 1 Saint-Charles' and 'Albert 1er - Cathédrale' stations respectively. There is a paid parking nearby ('Peyrou Pitot')
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this attraction with a visit of the Cathedrale and the nearby Promenade du Peyrou & Aqueduc Saint-Clément.
Environmental & Social
Green activity. Socially neutral
