Description
Humboldt Redwoods State Park main attraction is its 69km2 of old-growth redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens), comprising the entire Bull Creek watershed and the Rockefeller Forest. It was named after 19th century scientist Alexander von Humboldt and established mainly from lands purchased from lumber companies operating in the area. It is home to the 4th-tallest measured living redwood, the Stratosphere Giant, which measures 113m. There are more than 100 miles of trails and dozens of campsites.
Access & Transport
The visitor center is located on the Avenue of the Giants, State Route 254, between the towns of Weott and Myers Flat— 70km south of Eureka and 35km north of Garberville, off Highway 101. Dogs are not allowed on trails. There can be wide temperature differences between areas within the park so dress with layers.
