Description
The Redwood National and State Parks are located along the coast of Northern California and are the site of the most important acreage of old-growth coast redwood - the tallest on the planet. Redwood NSP actually consists of 4 parks: Redwood NP, Del Norte Coast SP, Jedediah Smith SP and Prairie Creek SP. The tallest tree in the world - Hyperion at 116m - is located in Redwood NP. There are over 300km of trails across the parks and, besides hiking, mountain biking and kayaking (along the river and the coastline) are also popular.
Access & Transport
Redwood NSP is generally oriented along the north-south U.S. 101 highway corridor between Crescent City and Orick. It is a 500km/6h drive north of San Francisco and close to the border with Oregon. Info on how to get there: https://www.nps.gov/redw/planyourvisit/directions.htm Physical accessibility info: https://www.nps.gov/redw/planyourvisit/physicalmobility.htm
