Gülhane Park - by Ayse Abaci on Google
Description
Gülhane Park is located in Istanbul's historical district, adjacent to the grounds of Topkapi Palace. It is the city's oldest park and where the Edict of Gülhane that launched the Tanzimat reforms seeking to modernize the Ottoman Empire was proclaimed in 1839.
Access & Transport
Located next to the Istanbul Archaeology Museums and Topkapı Palace. The Gülhane tram station (T1) is on the western edge of the park and the Sirkeci railway station is 300m away.
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest using the park to take a break between a visit of Topkapi Palace and the Archaeology Museums or Hagia Sophia.
Environmental & Social
A green activity. Positive for the community as green spaces makes for a better living environment
Conclusion
The park is nice enough and a great place for some downtime or a short casual walk, but for most travellers it would not really be considered an attraction unto itself. Works best on the way to/from Topkapi Palace or the Archaeological Museums
