Description
Pera Museum is an art museum with a focus on 19th century Orientalism. It is located in the Tepebaşı neighbourhood of the Beyoğlu district (called Pera in the past) in a building that previously served as the Bristol Hotel. The three main collections are: 1) Orientalist paintings by Ottoman/Turkish and European artists such as Osman Hamdi Bey; 2) Anatolian Weights and Measures with various types of scales and measuring instruments (over 10,000 items); and 3) Kütahya Tiles and Ceramics with over 800 pieces representing mostly the 18th to 20th centuries. The museum also holds temporary exhibitions.

Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this activity with a walk along İstiklal Cd and/or in the neighbourhood around Galata Tower.
Environmental & Social
Minor environmental impact to run the museum (mostly electricity). It helps spread culture and the arts
Conclusion
The Pera Museum is not world class by any measure, but the artwork and artefacts exhibited there should please most culture and art enthusiasts. Considering the cheap entry price, we would advise anybody in the Galata area to invest 45-60mins there.
