Description
The Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park is Spain largest protected area, covering 2,100km2 in the eastern part of Jaen province. It includes two mountain ranges: the Sierra de Cazorla and the Sierra de Segura. The hike reviewed here is an out-and-back from Loma de Mariángela to the 'Salto de los Órganos' (waterfall). Total distance is 9km with total ascent of approx. 700m on a non-technical route, making it suitable for inexperienced hikers with base fitness. Hiking time should be 2h-2h45.
Access & Transport
The start of the trail is in the village of Loma de Mariángela, at the Torre del Vinagre Interpretation Center. It is 35km northeast of Cazorla on the A-319.
Instructions & Recommendations
Make sure to proper footwear. Hiking shoes preferable but good sneakers or even better, trail running shoes, will do. And make sure to bring plenty of water

Eco-friendly activity. Socially marginally positive as tourism brings some revenues to the villages in this remote area

The perfect opportunity to explore the mountainous outdoors of north-eastern Andalusia. A good option for a picnic as well.
