Description
Hong Kong Wetland Park is an ecotourism attraction located in the Yuen Long area, in the northern part of the New Territoires, close to Shenzhen. Besides the 60ha conservation area, the facilities include the Wetland Interactive World with exhibition galleries showcasing the importance of wetlands on biodiversity, a theatre and an indoor play area.
Access & Transport
The wetland park is not central at all but can be reached by car, bus and rail (West Rail line until Tin Shui Wai station and then LRT until either Tin Sau or Wetland Park station).
Instructions & Recommendations
*** Some upgrading work is currently ongoing in the Visitor Centre so some sections/exhibits may be closed temporarily *** We would recommend this for nature enthusiasts who have already ticked the box of what makes the city so unique and are looking for some educational activity. It is a little far out, but the MTR is pretty quick. Note that the visitor centre is currently undergoing some upgrade work.
Environmental & Social
The conservation and education efforts score well in terms of environmental credentials. Neutral from a social standpoint
Conclusion
The Wetland Park is a good ecological and educational initiative and provides visitors with an enjoyable opportunity to discover a specific ecosystem. Not unmissable for first time visitors but worth looking into for longer / repeat stays and for residents.
Key positive
Green and educational activity
Family friendly
Key negative
Nice but nothing spectacular or exciting
