Symphony of Lights Cruise by Aqua Luna

Aqualuna - by Koreval
Description
The Symphony of Lights cruise with Aqua Luna is a 45 mins sightseeing experience in the middle of the Victoria Harbour on a traditional sampan. Customers get to see both the Kowloon and Hong Kong Island skylines when illuminated during the Symphony of Light which consists in a sound & light display on the skyscrapers on both sides of the harbour. The harbour's deep, sheltered waters and strategic location on the South China Sea were instrumental in Hong Kong's establishment as a British colony and its subsequent development as a trading centre so it is a key sightseeing spot for tourists, not just because it is scenic but also because of its historical importance for the city.
Access & Transport
The boat leaves from the Tsim Sha Tsui Public Pier #1 followed by Central Pier #9. Both locations can easily be access by taxi or public transport: Tsim Sha Tsui, East Tsim Sha Tsui on the TST side and Central or Hong Kong MTR stations for Central Piers. Getting on to the boat might be challenging for people with reduced mobility so best to enquire.
Instructions & Recommendations
It is recommended to arrive a bit ahead of time at the Pier to get a better seating option onboard. For that same reason, it is advisable to board in Tsim Sha Tsui if you can. This activity is best combined with the Avenue of Stars, one of the museums near the TST promenade, or the Maritime Museum in Central Pier #8 - subject to their closing hours.
Environmental & Social
The boat is not really sailing but is motorized so there is some degree of carbon footprint but it is not a long cruise and on a per passenger basis it is not that energy intensive. Socially neutral.
Conclusion
The Symphony of Lights cruise on the Aqua Luna is a special experience that combines both a Victoria Harbour cruise and the dancing lights over the Honk Kong skyscrapers. True, it is possible to do both for a fraction of the cost by watching the show from Tsim Sha Tsui promenade (free) and taking the Star Ferry between Central and TST piers but there is something unique to the experience so it probably comes down to budget elasticity.
Key positive
Experience of getting on a traditional sampan surrounded by modern skyscrapers
Excellent service and seating is mostly comfortable
Key negative
Quite expensive for a family or group
Symphony of light itself can be a bit of a let-down, but not the Hong Kong skyline at night
Suitability
Accessibility for people with reduced mobility could be an issue (getting on the ship) - we have not found evidence that wheelchair users can be accommodated.
