Jamek Mosque (KL) - by Wilfred Nagtalon on Google

Description
Jamek Mosque (Masjid Jamek), a.k.a. the Friday Mosque was completed in 1909, making it one of Kuala Lumpur's oldest mosques and the main one for 50 years until Masjid Negara was built. It was designed with Neo-Mughal influences; it has 3 domes, 2 minarets with a distinctive pink brick and white plaster striped pattern, Moorish arches, and umbrella-type of structures providing shelter in the courtyard.
Access & Transport
The mosque is built across the Gombak river from the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Merdeka Square, in the historical centre of KL. The Masjid Jamek light rail station (AGL, SPL) is located next to the building.
Instructions & Recommendations
You should dress conservatively and note that the hours for tourist visits are different from that of worshippers. When you are in the area, make sure to check out the Merdeka / Independence Square and Chinatown's Petaling Street.
Environmental & Social
No environmental impact. Part of the city's architectural heritage
Conclusion
Masjid Jamek is not worth crossing the town for, but a building you should definitely include in you Chinatown & Merdeka Square exploration. It gives a sense of nostalgia for when things were smaller, and simpler...?

Picturesque architecture and riverside setting
Centrally located
Key negative
Quite small and no standout feature
