Casa Botines - by Management

Description
The Casa Botines is a Modernist building designed by Antoni Gaudí and constructed in the 1890's in León, during the same period that the artist was working on the Episcopal Palace of Astorga. Gaudí blended medieval and neo-Gothic elements in the structure that comprises a basement, four floors and an attic. Today, it houses a museum dedicated to Gaudi, the history of the building itself, Spanish paintings since the 19th century, and the recreation of a 19th century apartment.
Access & Transport
The building is located in the city centre, between Plaza de Santo Domingo and Plaza Cid. Buses L8, L11, M1, M3, M12 stop on Plaza de Sano Domingo and the train station is 8mins walk away.
Instructions & Recommendations
The Attic and turret can only be visited as part of the guided tour. Nearby attractions include the Cathedral, the Barrio Humedo and Plaza del Grano, and the Basílica de San Isidoro de León.
Environmental & Social
We deem this attraction environmentally neutral (repurposed building). Part of the city's architectural heritage.
Conclusion
Casa Botines is worth a few pictures but if it did not have Gaudi's signature it would not draw many people inside. Best for residents with art or architecture inclinations and those with 3 days or more in the city.
