Description
The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in is a private art collection spanning several periods and geographies including classical antiquity (Greco-Roman, Near East and Nile Valley), Armenian, Mesopotamian and Persian Art, European paintings from the 15th century up to the Impressionist movement, Sculpture and Decorative Arts, and Lalique jewellery. The museum is surrounded by woods, laws and wetlands.
Access & Transport
The museum in in the northern part of Lisbon, about 3km from the city centre. The São Sebastião (blue and red lines) and Praça de Espanha (blue line) metro stations are both a 5mins walk away. Buses 716, 726, 756 stop in front of the building on Av. de Berna, and buses 726 and 746 on Av. António Augusto de Aguiar.

The Foundation does some real social work with sustainability as a core precept. No environmental data on the building though (consumes electricity and was purposely built). Helps spread the arts and the outdoor gardens are open to the public

The CGM is easily one of the top activities in Lisbon for art lovers and generally those keen on cultural activities. It is wide in scope which provides the opportunity to explore new themes, medium, and styles.
