São Jorge Castle - by Jorgelina Catianni on Google

Description
Saint George's Castle (Castelo de São Jorge) stands on the site of the first fortifications of Lisbon in the 1st century BC. It has been occupied by Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Moors, the Portuguese (since the 12th century) and used both for military purpose and as a royal palace. Inside, visitors can discover the main square with old cannons, the ruins of the royal place, the ramparts, and some archaeological exhibition.
Access & Transport
The fort is on top of a hill, just north of the Cathedral, in the historical center of Lisbon. Trams 12 and 28 stop 300m away at 'Lg. Portas Sol'. Alternatively, the Rossio and Martim-Moniz metro stop (green line) are 15mins away (in the opposite direction).

Environmental & Social
We deem this attraction environmentally neutral. Part of the city's architectural and historical heritages.
Conclusion
On paper this is one of the must-see attractions in the city but, in our opinion, it should not be a priority for those with only a couple of days in town - only because there just isn't much to see within the complex.
Key positive
Excellent views over the city
A monument with a long history
Key negative
Lacks content and information
Expensive for what it is and significant price increase recently
Suitability
Visitors with reduced mobility will not be able to access all areas and there are some uneven cobblestones
