Description
Eduardo VII Park has a landscaped garden that was redesigned in 1945 by Modernist architect F.K. do Amaral, a greenhouse garden, and some sculptures. From the Mirador, there is a perspective (long axis) over the Marquis of Pombal monument and the Avenida da Liberdade. The park was renamed in honour of the British monarch King Edward VII who visited in 1903, as a sign of goodwill and to strengthen the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance.
Access & Transport
The park is in Northern Lisbon, at the end of the Av. da Liberdade. Metro station 'Parque' (blue line) is on the eastern side whilst buses 713 and 742 stop close to the miradouro (northern end).
Instructions & Recommendations
We suggest combining this activity with the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum (800m away) or the Águas Livres aqueduct (1km away)
Environmental & Social
Green attraction that also improves the quality of life of the residents
Conclusion
The park offers a pretty impressive vista from its northern end, but we would not rate it as unmissable or an attraction worth a significant detour. However, we highly recommend to check it out if you are already planning to visit attractions in northern Lisbon, such as the nearby Águas Livres aqueduct or the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum.
Key positive
Some excellent photo opportunities
Key negative
The park itself doesn't have much to offer
Suitability
Wheelchair users may need some motor or human assistance to go up the slope
